The last of the short-lived Micro Collection vehicles is the Snowspeeder, released in the United States for Christmas 1982 as a JC Penney exclusive. The SWCA notes that along with the Millennium Falcon, the Snowspeeder was the rarest of the Micro Collection vehicles. I believe it as you can find TIE Fighters and X-Wings for sale all day long, but complete Snowspeeders and Falcons are rarely seen.
I got this one about two years ago from a seller in Australia, a place where (along with snakes, poisonous spiders, and other dangerous critters) these rare Micro Collection vehicles can more readily be found. Toltoys, the Australian Star Wars concessionaire, offered the Snowspeeder as part of its Micro Collection main line.
Pilots fit well in the somewhat oversized cockpits.
"Action knob" (erk) sticks out the back of the ship. Push this in and the spring-loaded damage feature activtates.
Copyright and COO information is on the underside of the wings. Made in Macao as typical of the Micro Collection ships.
Above you can see the damage feature in action...
The toy itself, like all of the other Micro Collection vehicles, is very cool as it's better scaled to the figures and generally more screen-accurate than the 3 3/4" scale vehicles. It also has an "action feature" where on the push of a lever various parts of the ship come loose to simulate crash damage. It also comes with two nice diecast metal pilots.
It's a neat toy but rarely found in North America and consequently expensive, even for a loose example. Boxed ones with instructions are even more dear of course. But for a Micro Collection completist it is of course a must.
